Is YouTube API Completely Free to Use? [closed]

I’m planning to create a third-party tool using the YouTube Reporting API and YouTube Analytics API to retrieve data like view counts and likes for specific channels.

Based on the API documentation, it appears that 10,000 units are allocated per day, with different API requests consuming varying amounts of these units. If the daily limit is exceeded, the API becomes unavailable until the limit resets.

To increase this limit, it seems necessary to submit a request through the YouTube API Services - Audit and Quota Extension Form:https://support.google.com/youtube/contact/yt_api_form?authuser=1

However, I couldn’t find any explicit mention in the official documentation about whether these APIs are entirely free to use or if additional charges are incurred when the quota is extended through the request form.

I’m trying to understand:

  1. If there are any costs associated with using the YouTube API, especially after applying for a quota extension.
  2. Whether there’s an official Google page that clarifies the pricing or confirms that these APIs are free to use.

I’ve found similar questions in the past, but they are almost a decade old. I wanted to ask again to confirm the current situation.

If anyone has experience with this or knows of an official resource that answers these questions, your guidance would be greatly appreciated!
